New Years Eve is the main cel­e­bra­tion in the St Andrews Soci­ety social cal­en­dar and this year it was a spec­ta­cle of hand­some gents sport­ing their kilts, ladies in evening dress and a dance band. The meal was based on ele­gant food sta­tions pro­vid­ing guests with the oppor­tu­nity to try Mash Potato Mar­ti­nis with var­i­ous top­pings includ­ing Hag­gis of course Beef Ten­der­loin with caramelised Onions Chicken soul­vaki with tzatziki and Jumbo Shimp with roasted gar­lic and herbs Pork showed its face dis­guised in home­made sausage rolls as an appe­tizer. At mid­night the party peeled out onto the main street and a Piper engaged every­body in a ren­di­tion of Auld Landsigne.
